Part Seventy-Seven. This week’s five tracks come from DJs Pareja – couple of electronic music producers and DJs from Buenos Aires, Argentina, who have been playing in the most important clubs and festivals all around Argentina, Latin America and Europe since 1999, showing their personal and eclectic style. They love pop, they love house, and have documented this love in their releases.
As producers, they have released two dance techno pop orientated albums, “Versátil?’ (2004) and “Marcha” (2009). In 2009 they became part of Cómeme, label owned by Matias Aguayo, and released their debut 12” single “Street Sound”, which took them on their first European tour together with other artists from the label. In 2010 they released “Brutal E.P.” on the German label I’m Single. The following year History Clock records in the UK released “Spanish Is Beautiful”, their fifth release which they presented during their 2011 European tour.
They participated with a track called “Tacha” in the latest Cómeme sampler vinyl and have recently released a 4-track EP titled “De La Cabeza”, also on Cómeme, which has been supported by Erol Alkan, Tiga, Ewan Pearson and Justin Robertson to name a few. They have done remixes for Acid Washed, Hard Ton and a few Argentinean artists. In January/February 2013 Huntleys & Palmers will be releasing their new 2-track EP. More info soon!
Here are their picks…
FIVE SONGS YOU MUST HEAR THIS WEEK #77: DJS PAREJA
LA VAMPIRES FEAT. MARIA MINERVA–END OF THE WORLD
We really love these two goddesses’ new album. The experimental pop album of 2012? This is our favorite track. Magic and esotericism on the dancefloor.
GARDEN OF EDEN–THE GARDEN OF EDEN
We have always been obsessed with UK acid house from 1988 and 1989. We wish we had been there dancing to obscure tunes like this one. We love the vocals, the ethnic atmosphere and the 303 bassline. Ecstasy is you and me!
FOREVER SWEET – SUPER TROUPER
This is an early Kompakt style tune we used to play a lot when we started djing. We even danced to it with friends hundreds of times. A total classic we still drop from time to time. It wasn’t on youtube so we had to upload it. We love its incisive groove and its sweet melody. The real minimal house.
PHILIPP GORBACHEV–MONTANA BLUES
A Cómeme future classic! We really like its guitar riff and hypnotic wall of sound. Ideal when you are off your head clubbing. Philipp is de la cabeza!
Our favorite track by our all time favorite Argentinean electronic pop band. It sounds primitive and sophisticated at the same time. Released in 1996 but could be featured in any Not Not Fun label compilation these days. Classy!
