RE: Erol Alkan Official Football Thread - PaoloTramezzani - 2011-08-03 15:30:22

i'm sick of the modric stories myself, recent headlines have been 'chelsea may make another bid' (TOP STORY) and 'modric didn't hand in a transfer request... we made that shit up!'

all the while we can't buy a striker and the deadwood won't shift :(

oh well, afc wimbledon play their first league game on saturday and i'll be wearing the commemorative white shirt (with no sponsor *drool*) at field day, come say hi

RE: Erol Alkan Official Football Thread - BillieT - 2011-08-04 00:39:47

The hysteria/madness on the Spurs boards is getting pretty jokes, especially when someone pipes up with some itk like 'my mate is a limo drive and just picked up etoo and took him to spurs for a medical. This window we've been linked with kaka/benzema/etoo/rossi/drogba, it's ridiculous. I am praying for Llorente but even that is unrealistic.

RE: Erol Alkan Official Football Thread - PaoloTramezzani - 2011-08-04 09:32:25

what spurs boards? did you sign up at spursforum.co.uk? it's pretty level-headed there, well they take all transfer talk with a huge pinch of salt anyway

our best strikers are 16 and 18 years old! coulibaly and kane

if you've not checked him out yet, souleymane coulibaly was top scorer at the u17s world cup, eqalling sinama-pongolle's (i know...) record of 9, youtube him... ahem

RE: Erol Alkan Official Football Thread - BillieT - 2011-08-04 10:28:22

Haha I use the madness that is Spurs Community, far from level headed!

Yeah really excited about those two this season, Kane looks a bit of a beast and cant wait to see Coulibaly play. Looking forward to Kyle Walker this season too

RE: Erol Alkan Official Football Thread - PaoloTramezzani - 2011-08-04 10:49:00

was a bit tongue in cheek, they are fantastic prospects but i can't see either given a game this year unfortunately, maybe first round carling cup defeat for kane if he's lucky

i'm sure walker will be around the first team, he's certainly good going forward but i'm not sure he'll work well with lennon, lets hope they can adapt their games to one another, could be england's right hand side if they do! :)

i'm getting a bit peeved at the lack of a striker, the constant links to CMs and CBs and the failure to shift the dead wood, i can't remember the last time i enjoyed a transfer window

RE: Erol Alkan Official Football Thread - BillieT - 2011-08-04 11:28:08

Looks like we are trying to kill two birds with one stone and buy Samba. Cover for cb and a triffic partner for Crouch. Him and Crouch up front is about to be the most lethal pairing in epl history.

or could it pave the way for his exit? we didn't have anyone tall enough to tell him to leave before

they also both have signature dances :)

You spuds are a funny old bunch aren't ya. Willing to bet any one of you that you won't be in the top 5 this season... Even with dirty harry out of jail.

RE: Erol Alkan Official Football Thread - PaoloTramezzani - 2011-08-05 11:39:10

well, we came 5th last year, haven't strengthened and liverpool have spent over £100m this year so that's hardly a bold claim

still, i have faith in levy to pull something out of the bag and as much as i don't like 'arry, he's done alright by us so far

not sure that a spammer is fit to comment on Premier League affairs though

RE: Erol Alkan Official Football Thread - Guy (Boratto?) - 2011-08-05 17:01:06

ah, my mistake, i thought you were all expecting champions league qualification this year.

RE: Erol Alkan Official Football Thread - Radio Ladio - 2011-08-05 22:46:35

Everyone has been relatively quiet on the transfer market so far. Would have thought we'd see a Chelsea spending spree by now. They'll probably end up spending £100m all in one day though. Really not convinced over Liverpool's signings though. It saddens me.

I liked the new (younger) face of Man Utd. a lot. Smalling was amazing, brilliant idea to put him on the right. Also Welbeck and Cleverley deserve a mention, very promising players. The second goal was great. The team is just different in a good way. Nani seems keep his form from the last season. Bad debut for De Gea though. I hope he will improve his performance as soon as possible. It was very risky to buy such a young goalkeeper. There is still some work to do in the team.

RE: Erol Alkan Official Football Thread - Digital Glasses - 2011-08-07 19:07:19

That 2nd goal was beautiful. Both teams looked good today, particularly United. Welbeck looked mature and composed, Smalling had a great game and Cleverly held things together very well. If we sign Sneijder, I think we can beat Barca.

RE: Erol Alkan Official Football Thread - Niko - 2011-08-07 19:47:35

I think City were terrible today but they will look different with Tevez and Aguero.

Man Utd still needs a class central midfielder but i doubt Sir Alex is going to sign anyone now. I lost hope for Sneijder tbh. Also i heard City wants him too and they have more money, you know.

RE: Erol Alkan Official Football Thread - Digital Glasses - 2011-08-07 20:36:52

As if he want to go to City over United. He's unbelievable, so I hope we sign him.

RE: Erol Alkan Official Football Thread - BillieT - 2011-08-07 22:16:40

That second Man United goal was absolutely sick. A journo on twitter said in the second half Ashely Young was United's oldest player on the pitch at one point. Looks like they've assembled a young squad full of talent and potential tbh.

RE: Erol Alkan Official Football Thread - Guy (Boratto?) - 2011-08-07 23:10:52

So nani beat a poor man city and now manure's full of vibrant young talent? Please. Put smalling, welbeck or Anderson in a Wigan side and they'd be invisible.

RE: Erol Alkan Official Football Thread - Digital Glasses - 2011-08-07 23:30:00

Welbeck was at Sunderland? Did pretty well.

So wrong. Except the third goal it was a team work.

Welbeck did a good season in Sunderland and Cleverley in Wigan. I don't really like Anderson but he was good yesterday.

Cleverley I give you, but don't see much in the other two or de gea.

anyway I don't think i should come in here when we've lost - seem to get quite militant!

You won't be able to come here all year though if you stick by that rule. (jk)
