I thought this would be about bribery, bit disappointed because I'd be totally OK with accepting sums of money in order to listen to David Guetta. Other than that, I couldn't care less, social media statistics are meaningless, the green m&m has 56k followers on twitter.

Oh it makes perfect sense to buy likes, promoters of partys are looking on followers/likes really close. Many likes -> many gigs offered. simple as that

Notice how no DJs/Producers that anyone with the slightest bit of sense enjoys appears on that shortlist.
Not saying i'm fairly upset or even care about this Mexico City EDM fan buying thing. It's whatever, sometimes the best things in life are lurking in the shadows, waiting to be found. Not forced down your throat or handed to you on a silver platter with a fork and knife alongside.

Maybe not, but these are all essentially pop acts - it's not inconceivable that they're getting significant radio play there.
