Haven't played an SSX game since Tricky in the GameCube. So many hours lost to that. Is this one good?

hahahaha i played that game too much as well. i haven't played the new one yet; maybe i'll try the demo sometime today.

It's pretty great. The only flaw is there is no local multiplayer or online multiplayer. It is all ghosts like a racing game. But it is cool to log in and see your friend beat your trick run on a mountain so you try to top it. Definitely go try the demo if you haven't. Plus Babar The Elephant remixed Tricky so you have a semi brostep remix of Tricky playing when you get Tricky. (Too many Trickys)

Lots of racing games are doing this as well, really bad direction for gaming.. they're just taking out the option of playing it with real friends as a social outlet, and forcing everyone to game by themselves / online..

well, there are various reasons. one (from a programming standpoint) is that having splitscreen multiplayer in these newer games may eat up too much of the console memory. some games like gears of war 3, halo reach and even modern warfare 3 have splitscreen but sacrifice some of the graphics/game textures to make it possible.

regardless it is pretty shitty that ssx doesnt have splitscreen

While true they could of still had online head to head multiplayer.

I loved the original and then Tricky but I've been afraid to "invest" cause it might just be the same game again. It was great tho.
