I've heard of you for a start ;)

I'm getting somewhere slowly, but only really over the last 12 months in the dance music scene - I've been DJing in all sorts of venues for over 10 years, and if I'd just taken the attitude "if they ask for it I'll play it" I'd have probably given up on music a long time ago.

I totally accept that requests go with the territory, and I love that moment when someone requests something and you already have it cue'd up, or even better when a lightbulb appears above your head and you are like "Nice one! Thats a great idea!". But when I'm playing 90s hip hop and someone comes over and says (and this happened over the weekend!) "Have you got any Britney? Ok, what about Take That? No? Ok...... Hmmm. Well, you MUST have some JLS?", I reserve the right to say no!

:)
DJing at a wedding in November and will have to go with all kinds of nonsense in the CD wallet I reckon. I draw the line at JLS though, you have to have some standards.

Don't forget 'Come on Eileen'. No wedding party is complete with out that belter!

there's not exactly a shortage of dubstep tracks that would fit in a house set

discuss this:
getting fame/success from djing the same as getting fame/success from reblogging stuff on a tumblr blog

whoever runs this site must know the best of both worlds

Meh get over yourself IMO. I've given requests to the likes of Classixx, Aeroplane, Breakbot, Boys Noize etc. Most have obliged.

By being on here I'll assume you have a greater knowledge of electronic music than a fair few punters. So I bet you were asking them to play a song they felt would fit well into their set/would get a good reaction. I would oblige if I felt so.

If you asked them to play Girls Aloud would they have done the same?

depends on the atmosphere really, theres those nights where someone tells me to play something that triggers a part of my brain to think of another great track ive forgotten about. sometimes you get gimps that ask you to play rubbish, i stopped being nice to them and give them a blunt 'no' or bend down, shit in my hands and throw my shit at them.

fuck requests, I printed out the NO BREASTS NO REQUESTS sign from that site and hung it in front of my booth and I only got one shitty request that night, and nipples were seen, so I obliged.

as a barman i treat it like there a customer; one time i was filtering out the high end after i crossed this track over, i finished and and thought 'smooth eq'ing pat on the back' but that stopped short as i this hotty was staring at me, cus i was playing behind a bar in a small club that packed a punch, i totally forgot what i was doing and asked her what she would like, she said 'some music with words in?' i thought it was a drink and then realised i was playing records and not pulling pints. so i said i'm extremely sorry but i dont have any music with words in, tried to compromise with her (suggest a different lager if the one they asked for ran out), i always carry madonna records but she wernt on it, and then firmly told her that it was the general them of this specific night. i'm all smiley and be all customer services with them, it tests your patience though, she was there for a whole song bartering with me. i dont play out much but im guessing if i did i'd just tell them to fuck off next time, and this post would be null and void ahaha

do you remember the other day i was telling you about progression?

If he forgets he's dj'ing whilst actually dj'ing then i dread to think where he put it if he did.
