One thing that has always surprised me in electronic music is just how many people come from being big fans of punk/hardcore music. I am a huge Husker Du fan, I'd say Bob Mould is, along with John Frusciante, the main reason I ever got into making and playing music.

So how's about in here we post some favourites - I'll get the ball rolling.

I would've loved to have been at this Fugazi gig. Something about punk shows that's just so good

Yes massive punk fan here, particularly the streetpunk/cali scene in the 90s like NOFX, Pennywise, Guttermouth, mad Caddies etc and basically anything on Fat Wreck Chords. And Early offspring, green day too, natch.

Highlights are hard to choose but heres a couple:

I went to reading fest in 99 as a punk fan, hated dance, but saw 2manydjs at their 'AHORS pt 2' prime and that basically changed everything!

Yeah my bad, you are correct. they played after feeder, and i meant leeds not reading. 1999 was in my head though as they has the vans warped tour on and i was onstage for the pennywise/bro hymn stage invasion. Good times!!

Big fan of all of these. Been getting back into hardcore again recently, some corking EPs/LPs out this year, especially enjoying Weekend Nachos, Trap Them, All Pigs Must Die (w. members of The Hope Conspiracy and Converge), and New Lows.

And there'll always be a place in my heart for TDEP:

^ Must've watched that video 100X..never get tired of seeing him run over the crowd. Calculating Infinity is still a classic. I'll check out those bands you mentioned too

I've seen them a couple of times, not as crazy as that, but they're all mental, I cannot fathom how they are all still in one piece given how much they chuck themselves about!

Trap Them's new one, Darker Handcraft, is probably the most similar to the bands you mentioned, Kurt Ballou produced as well I believe. Still not checked out Narrows, not sure why given how much I like Botch - where should I start?

If you've not heard it and like some emo-ier stuff, I would heartily recommend Gospel - The Moon Is A Dead World. Just got hold of it recently, and it's been stuck on repeat.

Enjoying that Ensign track as well Paolo, any recs?

can't post links at work ad it's been years since i've listened to some of these and they're not exactly similar to ensign but...

leatherface and hot water music did a split that i loved

thanks for mentioning botch, i may be thinking of someone else but did they reform? i saw some nyhc band with a similar name about 3 years ago and it was class

i really liked bouncing souls on the poppier side of things

was thinking about propagandhi (try f**k machine or anti-manifesto... they could be le-coop's favourite band!) so i wikied them and saw that one of these guys formed the weakerthans

again, pretty poppy but immediately all the words to 'aside' are in my head and i'd not thought about that song for years, nice lyrics
