Capt America: Have a soft spot for superhero movies, this definitely didn't stand out in any way for me really but had some cool scenes and I like seeing the Avengers joining up, 5/10 (loses a point for how ridiculous Chris Evans looks superimposed on that tiny body)

Father of Invention: Unwatchable, found myself with a rage headache after 20 mins, 0 likeable characters and a ridiculously formulaic plot. 1/10

Crazy Stupid Love: Very skeptical going in, I can put up with a chickflick from time to time, but I found myself really pleasantly surprised with it. enjoyable light watch, amusing twists, check it out if you're into that kind of thing. 7/10

Drive: I know its getting overhyped, I think watching it before all the hype began was a real bonus to me though because i really didnt know what to expect. After the trailer made it look like a budget 'fast and the furious' I found myself gripped, and kinda shocked at the direction the film took! Has a real feel of an 80s classic movie, and a brilliant soundtrack. 9/10

There is no tense, energy, fun, pain, action, fear or anything that you are looking for in a film, it was just boring and pointless. 4/10

Fast Five

Definitely the best part of this film. 9,5/10

lol

Hate to admit it, but I watched "Love and Other Drugs" with the missus and quite enjoyed it. Anne Hathaway is also smoking hot and gets naked a lot. This may or may not have swayed my judgement.

Drive - really enjoyed it, has a very retro 70s feel, the obvious comparison being Taxi Driver, with its slow pace yet violent outbursts and bleak outlook. Great soundtrack as well, had me listening to lots of permanent vacation and italians do it better records in the following days.

The Guard - Funniest movie ive seen in a long time, big fan of that irish deadpan humour. Brendan Gleeson absolutely nails it, one of the most likable actors around.

127 Hours - Boring. The whole thing built towards the amputation and that was massive let down for me. I guess its more an actors movie, but i thought James Franco was unconvincing, didnt believe in his struggle even tho its a true story.

Haven't read this thread in a while so apologies if I'm just echoing other peoples verdicts. There are still a few months to go but for the time being:

Drive: best film of 2011

Cowboys & Aliens: worst film of 2011 (possibly one of the worst films I've ever seen) (I went to watch Apollo 18 which was fucking terrible, but I found some solace in the fact that at least it was more entertaining than Cowboys and Aliens)

Capt America: was ok nothing special, but I mean he's almost as lame as Superman so it was expected.

Kung Fu Panda 2: Meh, 1 was waay more the better.

Horrible Bosses: Pretty funny, wouldn't watch it again but it was worth the "rent"

Love and other stuff with Steve Carell & Ryan Gosling? Can't remember what it's called. Either way it's fucking dreadful. Right up there with anything with carrie Bradshaw in.

Just been to see Tintin. Probably the most visually stunning film I've seen since Avatar. Well worth a watch.

More Brains - Return of The Living Dead Documentary.

was cool to see nearly all of the original cast talk about this cult classic.

Drive - Easily my favourite film of the year, it just stuck in my head for days.

Don't be afraid of the dark - just plain shit.

this film:

[Image: MV5BMTc5NzUwNDM5M15BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwMTgy...SY317_.jpg]

is based on an autobiographical book written by my friends dad (he's the one who had a week with her)

died when we were about 16, fucking tragic stuff. probably one of the men I look up to most in life to be honest. not my sort of film but i'll be putting aside the time to watch that never mind the decent reviews it's been getting

Trespass

Not good at all. Great actors, director, decent budget and everything but the movie sucks hard. The main problem is in the story line, it is too exploited already. The execution is poor too. Endlessly mediocre film.

Sleeping Beauty http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1588398/

One of the best non-mainstream films this year! Reminds a little bit of Kubrick's "Eyes Wide Shut". A finely made sexual art drama full with hidden messages and subtext, along with some disturbing scenes. Also stunning performance from Emily Browning! Truly brilliant film that will resonate in your mind for some time, but it's not for everyone.

The Hangover 2 - Wasn't bad but it's complete repeat of the first one. Galifianakis made the film actually.

Wrong Turn 4 - Very disappointing. They fucked up the good film with this part.

The Three Musketeers (2011)

Bad adaptation. Complete re-fashioning of the original story. They turned it into a fantasy film. It's filmed in Pirates of the Caribbean style and i really dislike that film. Also i cannot stand Orlando Bloom and he is in this film too. I still prefer this than pirates bullshits.

Faces in the Crowd - Not good.

Midnight in Paris - Usually i like Woody Allen's films but not this one.

United (2011) - Didn't expect much from this considering it's a TV film, but it turned up quite decent film.

Tin Tin - A complete let-down for a Spielberg/Jackson collab. The main reason being that the main player "Tin Tin" also happens to be the most fucking irritating character on screen. "Great snakes!"?............fuck off.

Tower Heist - Good show till half way through were it starts to were thin, then it just ends very abruptly I thought.

Watched 'Snowtown' over the weekend, about the true story of Australias most notorious killings. Good movie but really really grim. Id reccomend it but it is a heavy watch, really sucks you in and keeps hold of you for a while afterwards, which not many movies have managed recently.

The latest movie I've seen was Wolvesbayne.
To put in kind words, the movie was bad except for the acting of the actors.

Probably the greatest film that I will NEVER watch again. Almost got to the point of "IRREVERSIBLE" violence wise, both physically and sexually, but the fact that its based on true events makes it so much more powerful.

Watched a few last weekend.

Rise of Planet of the Apes - Amazing CGI and performance from Andy Serkis. Pretty standard and predictable storyline but entertaining nonetheless.

Bridesmaids - Utter BS. Just felt like a female version of every other US comedy of recent years - same format, same jokes, same characters. Avoid unless you're trying to get your willy wet.

Hangover 2 - Formulaic, but still had me in creases at points. Felt familiar and comfortable, like an old hoody.

127 Hours - Fun to start off with, bit dull and lacking direction in the middle, then gruesome towards the end. It had me grimacing at the telly more than once, mostly the nerve bit.

I've got a copy of TT Closer to the Edge waiting in the wings...looking forward to that one.
