i think it's a good poppy electronic album. i enjoyed it for what it was.
however, his "dj set" at Rockness seemed to be someone pressing play on a pre-recorded laptop set and playing about with filters for an hour. i'd feel a bit embarrassed at getting £15k for that, especially with Crystal Method pounding out tunes beforehand. |

It had a few good tunes on it but thats about it, when Data re-released Drop the Pressure with Gloria Estafan that says it all Instantly forgettable, commercial crap. Build & Destroy |

I loved his album when it came out. I agree with people saying it was quite poppy/commercial etc. but for me that was a good thing at the time. I was what, 13 then, and only really listened to rock music, and this album really helped to switch me on to dance.
Plus, i've heard that he and his band put on a good live show, and I also reckon whatever he's cooking up for the next release is going to be pretty good. I have nothing to back this up though... Nice tune, shame about the sleeve... |

I'd put Destroy Rock and Roll in the same veign as Moby - Go. Popular and decent albums that got rinsed commercially and ended up losing a bit of credibility along the way.
Mylo was pretty big about 4 years ago but not sure if he'd generate much hype anymore unless his new stuff is awesome. For example if I put on a party with Justice headlining or Mylo headlining, Justice would sell out in days whereas Mylo wouldn't. Maybe Justice haven't sold as many albums and don't have as big commerical appeal but they probably have a bigger and more passionate fanbase. Then again Justice might be in a similar position in a couple of years, but if you look at the venues Justice have played and sold out it's a fair enough assessment to say that Mylo probably wouldn't have done the same. Mylo played my May Ball at uni, so he does have one over everyone else though. |

aww i just typed a really long replied that got eaten by the board.
im not saying as a dj but as a producer i love his work. kids from the states, when mylo dropped there was 2 aa stores in nyc now there is 17 if not more. the pool for americans listen to that stuff at the time was still very small. infact i bet i know everyone that was there when he played here. he never had a hit here on the radio. so try to compare them to justice is not right. most the hipsters today in nyc and rest of america were listening to dipset and sleeping out side of bathing ape for clothes when this was all dropping. peter bjorn and john made them all switch over to bad all over printer shirts and listeing to the dj act with no vowels. i love the kylie stuff that he leaked i but he comes back strong. well at least im hoping |

I too have noticed the quality of threads declining, what did we actually talk about before!?
Edit: not to say this is a bad thread though. It an Erol forum and Mylo is surely one of his contemporaries? Nice tune, shame about the sleeve... |

These days though you get a lot more 'I'm bored', 'I'm drunk', 'I'm 17 and in desperate need of attention' threads though but I just ignore these rather than get in a tizz about them. |
