Whats that club on Old Street that is also a Swimming Pool? It always looks well scally when I walk past it, sure I'd get knifed or something if I went in...

Yeah defo a very average city, I spent the majority of my time in Auckland at night floating between the Casino and an Irish bar across the road from the Casino. Hit a few clubs but nothing really much happening in the city as a whole. Wellington was a really cool city though, loved it there. And spent a week or two at a beach house in a place called Mahia which was really cool. The house fronted directly onto a beach where a supposedly famous wild dolphin "Moko" would always swim. Pretty cool swimming with a wild dolphin.

Anyway going off topic, lol, apologies to OP.
There's some cool stuff in Wellington, like the San Fransisco Bathouse (don't think it's called that anymore but you might know it anyway). Courtney Place is horrible though, I got randomly headbutted by a guy in Rain which might or might not have been because me and my two mates were the only non-asian people in there. Either way, we did nothing to provoke him! I've never been to Mahia though, sounds nice.

Korova's got quite a good layout I reckon. The design inside is cool aswell with them old televisions.

Thanks for the tips everyone, I'm looking them all up just now. Just had a tutorial today, and in true artwanky style all our buildings have to be based on a verb related to "recreation in the city". Girl who's doing a casino is doing "to gamble", boy doing a cinema is doing "to view" etc.

Mine was going to be "to dance" but there was nowt I could really do during the day for that one, so now it's changed to "to listen". How the f*ck am I supposed to design a building on "to listen"? Apparently it could include "spaces to go to listen to music alone or with friends"...who would go to a building to listen to music during the day? Isn't that what MP3 players are for? Maybe I'll just have to make some series of pods with ipod docks in them....its all gone a bit too apple-esque for my liking.

This is a proper pain in the arse, I was looking forward to finally getting to design something I'm actually interested in and now its gone all conceptual and shit. Any other suggestions on activities involving "listening" would be much appreciated.

I'm sure you know this already being from Glasgow but The Arches is used for Theatres, Art Exhibitions and other stuff during the day. It's actually primarily an Arts venue and the clubs in it are just used to keep the building afloat financially and also finance art projects too. I mean it's obviously used as a club just as much if not more than an arts venue these days but it's still run by the Scottish Arts Council as far as I'm aware and obviously their main focus is the theatre and arts side of it. It's a non-profit organisation so every penny of profit made in The Arches is pumped back into The Arches building, equipment or to finance exhibitions, theatres and art instalations.
Yeah, the arches was my big precedent for the design, but its all gone a bit wonky (see above). Is this Dave, by the way? (Hope I have the right person...)

:o that's where I ended after the POTWEND premiere, due to the lack of any afterparty. I won't recommend it indeed. But surely it's not used as a real swimming pool, is it? From what I remember, it was nothing more than a foot bath...

On topic, there are a couple of clubs in Paris or Lille that are also used during the day for art exhibitions or conferences, but nothing revolutionary I can think of.
