I remember seeing a photo of Surkin's studio set-up and someone commenting that he had crap monitors.

What does Erol Forum think about em? Worth spending money on? Any recommendations? Here's your chance to brag!

I'm thinking about getting these:

I dunno beans about all that frequency stuff, but just reading reviews they seem to be pretty decent.

ideally you want as many sources as you can. good monitors have a flat response so what you hear out of them should not be colored by eq or anything. as long as they are appropriate size for the room you work in and your room isnt a bass trap or something. that being said you should listen to your mix on stereo speakers and car speakers as well because thats what most people will hear your mix on. so finding a good balance between multiple listening scenarios is what your after.

the main thing though is to know whatever speakers your working on really well.. listen to tracks that you know are mixed well on them so when your mixing your stuff you can A/B your mix and something you want it to sound like instead of trying to get what you think it should sound like in your head to come out of the speakers as they may not have the low response or other characteristics your after.

I was going to buy those myself haha! I've read nearly all good reviews about those considering how cheap they are! :)

The only reason i'm not buying them is because I found another 60 quid so decided I'd save up and get a pair of KRK RP5's, but I'm sure those are grand! :)

Excellent choice mate, I have a couple of friends who use them and they are very good for the money.

Those look like quality monitors.

But I'm all considering the size cause in less than a year, I'll be moving into university dorms, so who knows when I'll be able to make full use of their loudness.

What do most people on these forums use?

I remember being pleasantly surprised the first time I heard my mix on a good system...
