I saw Bridesmaids the other day. Very funny.

Thinking of seeing Horrible Bosses or Harry Potter this weekend as well.

Scream 4

One of the most stupid films ever created. This part is even worse than the others.

Finally got round to watching Mulholland Drive the other night.

Proper weird. Feels like it's got a lot to give through a few re-watches.

This quick review at IMDB sums it up brilliantly without giving anything away, which the trailer does sadly.

Quote:"Never Let Me Go" is an interesting, haunting and affecting story of love and jealousy. The story that we see occurring on the surface is fairly commonplace of friends growing up together and falling in love. But the backdrop of this film, which eventually takes over the main story, is science fiction like. It's dark and tragic and thought-provoking.

The world the film is set in is 1980s England and it looks very similar to the real world. But it's not our world and I had a hard time fully realizing all the characterizations for characters in a world that I don't quite know and understand. But it's just such a well done film that my interest was piqued and the story had me captivated, or at least curious, from beginning to end.

The film was incredibly well shot, making dreary England look spectacular but still getting the feeling of damp and cold across. It was also really well cast. The kids playing the younger versions of Keira Knightley, Carey Mulligan and Andrew Garfield looked and sounded just like them and were able to carry the beginning of the film. As others noted, Garfield also really stood out for me and his character moved me.

I recommend "Never Let Me Go" because of the high quality of film-making. The science fiction elements are rather subtle so it's more for fans of romantic dramas, but it's an interesting enough film that it can cross into most genres.

really enjoyed this, captivating enough to never have me question the premise, both beautiful and depressing.

i also watched monsters recently, i knew beforehand that it wasnt really a monster movie and more of an indie road flick, but still thought it was boring, altho i slept during the middle for about 20minutes so cant say ive seen the whole movie.

Captain America

Films I went to see this week, and they're in order of preference.

I thought ROTPOTA was a really a very good film. I don't remember actually latching on to a character that is effectively a CGI drawing as much as I did with caesar - the 'lead' character. Probably one of the best movies I've seen this year.

Super 8 was charming enough, and obviously hails back to the Spielberg glory years - with an obvious nod to films such as E.T and The Goonies. It's a nicely done film, but left me with a few too many unanswered questions. Dogs? is all I will say.

Captain America was... different as far as comic book films go. Set in WWII made it different to most that I've watched. Admittedly I'm not the biggest comic book fan, so it just seemed a bit dull... nice settings and scenery. Also, I don't know how they make chris evans' body that small, and then that big. it's odd.

Battle: Los Angeles.

Basically, War Of The Worlds meets Black Hawk Down, but not as good as either of them. War Of The Worlds isn't really any good but at least, in the Martian walkers, it has a vaguely terrifying, imposing enemy. B:LA has perhaps the worst, least threatening aliens since Mac & Me. And crap CGI. And no tension, engrossing plot or adequately fleshed out characters.

Source Code.

Nowhere near as good as Moon, obviously. But far better than the similarly-themed Deja Vu. Had me fair gripped for the first half, but starts to lose it after its little halfway-point revelation.....and then the last 30 minutes is pure balls. Liked the nod to Quantum Leap, casting Scott Bakula as the voice of his dad, though. At least it's probably better than Quantum Leap, as well.

anyone seen the devils double yet? loosely based on the true story of sadam husseins son and his body double. its been compared to scarface for its ultraviolence, and seems like quite a fascinating story.

I saw Super 8 recently. It was pretty cool, but the fact that the fat kid looked EXACTLY like this kid I went to school with was haunting me throughout.

Good film

Hmm, might check it out next week...

Just saw The Game (with Michael Douglas). Decent movie, and the ending is quite surreal. Only thing that bothered me was the schizophrenic piano soundtrack.

Last week I saw How To Train Your Dragon. I'm not really into animation movies, but wow, this was pretty damn good. CGI is amazing and the story was good as well. Very enjoyable!

Rise of the Planet of the Apes - Went in there expecting it to be average, came out and thought it was single handedly the best mainstream film released this year. Serkis deserves an oscar for that performance.
