Watched The Assasination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford last night. For such a slow paced film I found it completely gripping. Completely convincing acting as well. I'm actually looking forward to watching it again.

^^ Anchorman was on TV tonight then I saw this all over facebook!

I've recently watched a few VERY questionable movies due to living with odd housemates and watching extreme season on Film4:

"Better Luck Tomorrow" which follows a crew of super smart and gifted asian kids at an american college who grow tired of normal life so they begin committing petty crimes for kicks but it spirals out of control when they start to deal drugs and go after bigger money. Really weird film, if you're bored late at night it gets a 4/5, any other time a 2/5 for poor acting and a plot that is seemingly ignorant of reality.

"Hobo With a Shotgun" is just absolutely mind blowingly gory for no reason at all other than it is slightly associated with Rober Rodriguez (who did Machete). It just gets gorier and gorier, following an angry homeless guy who the viewer knows nothing about. He is disgusted by the unnamed city he has found himself in where everybody finds it hilarious to cut people open and beat innocent children to death so he buys a shotgun and goes on a rampage. If you've got some mates round and you'd all have a laugh at the ridiculous situations that occur then I'd give it a 3.5/5 for laugh factor.

Last but not least "Import/Export" is possibly one of the grimmest movies I've ever encountered. It follows the lives of two people who interestingly never meet in the film. One story is Paul who is an unemployed security guard in Vienna who goes to Ukraine with his hateful stepdad in search of work. The contrasting story is a nurse in Ukraine who leaves for Vienna in search of work as she is tired of the crap wages and having tho do part time in the sex industry. The really horrifying part of this film is that most of the "actors" are not actors. They are real people living hopeless lives. They are real dying dementia patients in the hospitals. Heavy stuff but has so many undertones when you research it that it might be worth the pain of sitting through some of the uncomfortable scenes. 3/5

watched Andrzey Wajda's Popiol i Diament (Ashes & Diamonds) yesterday

well it was a sunny day so i thought what better way of spending my time than watching a b&w 1958 subtitled Polish classic on a man's internal conflict in a newly post-war Poland

under-stated brilliance, save it for a sunny day

That looks really good, although it seems to be copying Wilfred expect it's a bear instead of dog.

That's certainly a film that I could happily rewatch the moment it ends. Stunning. And who'd have thought an Affleck could be such a fantastic actor?

The Cabin in the Woods

First i have to say that this is really an odd film. It starts like a generic horror then it turns into complete mess. I'm not gonna spoil it but the second part of the film got too phantasy for my liking. I rather enjoyed it but it's not a film that a typical horror fan like me would really enjoy. It's pretty close to a parody.
It's also way too overrated. Its IMDb rating is 8.0 which places it in top 250 movies of all times which is ridiculous.
After all i do not regret that i went to see it.

Just got round to watching "Buffalo 66", read allot of positive reviews of it before watching. Have to say it lived up to them and is a very good Independent film from Vincent Gallo. The pacing and tension between the characters is amazing.

Earth Girls Are Easy - bad, possibly the worst film I've ever seen and I've seen Lake Placid and Miss Congeniality

I'm going to start watching everything amazing I've avoided for no reason over the years. This weekend, Blue Velvet. (and I'm a humungous Lynch fan)

Also,

The IMDB 250 is completely absurd. The Dark Knight above Seven Samurai? Inception over Goodfellas? All of those, above Sunset Blvd, Citizen Kane, American Beauty, Taxi Driver, The Shining, Rear Window, Laurence Of Arabia, The Third Man, Chinatown, Raging Bull, 2001, The Apartment, Blade Runner, Network....The Royal Tennanbaums, 8 1/2, All That Jazz, among others, not even on the list? Gahhh...I don't know why I care so much

Seen Law Abiding Citizen for the first time the other day. Thought it was intense! That murder scene in the jail cell is possibly the most brutal thing I've seen T.V.
