Watched Unthinkable earlier today. Can't say I liked it much, pretty depressing overall, but certainly posed some interesting questions.

yeah, I also dislike the films you mentioned. Try the first two in my list, decent thrillers.

some good/ decent films a watched at home lately

Contraband
Man on a Ledge
Chronicle
We Bought a Zoo
A Lonely Place to Die
The Sitter
The Big Year

and some poor/ average

The Awakening
Intruders
Elevator
Real Steel
Seeking Justice - this is actually not too bad but a bit stupid though

The Dictator hit the theaters, I'm gonna see it these days :)

Watched The Grey last night. If you're expecting Liam Neeson kicking the arse out of some wolves, you'll be disappointed. It's pretty depressing stuff.

Saw The Dictator last night. It was OK. Not brilliant but worth seeing if you're after some cheap laughs

PT Anderson's (There Will Be Blood, Boogie Nights), hit job on scientology, with Philip Seymour Hoffman playing an L Ron Hubbard esque figure and Joaquin Phoenix giving whats probably going to be one of the greatest performances of all time

So just seen Prometheus. Can't remember the last time I was so disappointed in a film.

Moonrise Kingdom was "cute" and "quirky."

You should consider seeing it.

Watched Hoop Dreams the other day. Quite enjoyed it, although it is long. Probably worth watching in two hits.

However, something that did spring up out of nowhere was the unmistakeable sample to ZZTs Work from the recent album.

It's towards the end of the movie when Arthur Agee is dancing with his family. I don't know what the track is called but it's definitely the sample track.

Also watched Sin City after re-reading the graphic novels, that shit never gets old, or any less brilliant. The sequel's due to be released 2013 and is apparently based on 'A Dame to Kill For' with new storylines written in by Frank Miller. So says a friend of mine anyway. Still massively hyped though. I feel a Sin City sequel will live up to hype more than Prometheus did, was a little disappointed with the latter really. Fassbender carried that movie, like he managed to in most.

capturing the friedmans

fascinating and depressing documentary about a family thats torn apart when the father, who is also a teacher, is revealed to be a pedophile and gets charged, along with one of his sons, for molesting boys in his computer class. features interviews with the victims, police, lawyers, family but best of all loads of family footage from the time when it all unraveled. the police investigation is also not as completely straight forward as might be expected. highly recommend

the education of shelby knox

another documentary, this one about a (relatively liberal) highschool girl in a deeply religious conservative town in texas who wants to get her school to start teaching sex ed, rather than just abstinence. decent enough movie, if like me, your intrigued by staunchly religious conservative types, especially from small towns in texas, seemingly detached from the rest of the world. has a great little kicker at the very end as well. the girl herself can be annoying at times with her constant crying but overall an interesting insight into americana.

anyone have any other good documentaries to recommend?

Try "Dear Zachary". I think it might still be on Netflix.

Warning: it's fucking depressing and shocking. Your jaw will probably hit the floor. Don't read an spoilers.

just watched it, not bad, did see that coming. the way some parts were cut was a bit annoying, like hes trying to sensationalize it to absolute maximum effect, when the story is tragic enough as it is. no need to constantly repeat voice snippets over horror music with all kinds of images flashing around.

Watched THX 1138 tonight.

Not much fucking clue as to what was really going on. Started making sense towards the end, but a little context would have been nice to explain the situation.

The Dark Knight Rises.

Worth the ticket price alone just for Anne Hathaway in leather.

I still think the hottest Anne Hathaway moment was when she flipped over the guy in the prison.

On the bike. Definitely on the bike.

DKR was good - very good, actually - but having watched the first two before heading off to the cinema I am definitely of the opinion that Dark Knight is the best of the series. Bane's voice and dialogue caused me major problems as well.
