This weeks episode of Mad Men "The Suitcase" was amazing. The best episode of the season so far and one of the best of all time. They do an amazing job of running story lines and character development parallel to actual period events, in this case Ali vs Liston II.

Also I watched the first two episodes of Rubicon. Looks promising, I quite like shows that are slow burners, they feel a bit more rewarding.

I concur, Mad Men really was spectacular this week, the writing and as Tears says, use of period events to flesh out the characters is fantastic.

i still haven't got around to watching it yet either, mainly because it focuses on my least favorite characters and the ones i do like get very little screen time if any.

Ah see, I like it because there is a lot of focus on the supernatural stuff; BOB, the lodges, one armed man and all that - which was a part of the show I was really interested in. However character wise the focuses are annoying; there's a long chunk at the start with FBI agents we've never seen before (although one is Jack Bauer) and very very little Cooper and in the TP parts theres a fair amount of Donna and James (euch) and none of the Hornes. . The stuff with the Palmers is really quite good though, the actors playing Leland and Laura really go for it

I prefer 'Fire Walk With Me' to the TV series as - although far more disjointed (to be fair, it is centred around the confused, disturbed mind of a coke-addled abuse victim) - it's pretty much full of the ideas that Lynch couldn't do on television. Especially once, come the second season, the studio took control from him and introduced that bollocks occult story to explain what was essentially intended to be left unexplained.......why don't audiences see that something is far more terrifying if you don't know why it's happening?

Also, the opening shot of FWWM - a TV being smashed - sums up Lynch's feelings about how the series ended up.

Bump.
Just watched Generation Kill again, and loved it again. Watched Archer for about the 3rd time this side of NYE already. Only 6 more days for new series! That "Accused" series on the Beeb was pretty good too. Only caught two of them but they were pretty enthralling.
Was watching "The Event", but the concept has gotten pretty boring if I'm honest.

Want to check out Boardwalk Empire sometime soon. Anyone else got some good suggestions?

Boardwalk Empire is really good. Probably the best thing recently. It's gone a bit quiet for decent new stuff.

Anyone else watching The Killing on BBC4? Best thing on TV (Besides Treme and Boardwalk Empire on Sky). It's a Danish crime drama spread over 20 parts. Halfway through now, but all episodes on iPlayer if you want to catch up. Still got no clue on who it is as each episode reveals something new to change your mind

we're catching up on the office season 7 right now, just got to christmas. i swear i thought it dipped a bit but the last few episodes are the funniest i've seen in such a long time. dwight is incredible. also comedy central had the episode where stringer bell appears for the first time - michael's emotional outburst is ridiculously funny.
