Californication is just starting back up again. Pretty sure there's a new series of 30 Rock just starting now as well. Lost track of The Walking Dead, but that might still be going. Only have to wait another 6 months or so for new Breaking Bad...

never ended up finishing breaking bad. some douche posted a spoiler in the gif thread which stopped me from watching the rest. might start again tho, too good a show to be ruined by one gif. yeah theres a new season of 30 rock started a couple weeks back. but overall it seems pretty barren compared to before the holidays. really lookin forward to mad men finally starting again in march.

What did you guys make of Noel Fielding's Luxury Comedy? Personally I found it quite poor with the exception of a couple of sketches.

Not gonna bother watching it if I'm totally honest. Looks ridiculous and I haven't been in a ridiculous mood for a while.

New series of Archer has started though - which I'm very pleased about.

Yeah, watched it last night and thought exactly the same. Laughed at a few bits but overall pretty disappointing. Was kind of expecting that though to be honest.

Watching through Jonathan Creek again.

One of the most superb British show ever.

Also, crank up the volume:

To those looking for something good on at the mo' get on Justified - it's just into it's third series and is pretty darn awesome (I'd guess the closest thing it is to is Breaking Bad - in terms of nicely mixing character work with more over the top elements - characters aren't as deep as BB but has better sense of humour)

Good Wife is suprisingly good too (considering it's a law procedural called 'the good wife') - juggles load of complex plots and character relations whilst being very well acted and managing to throw in pretty good case of the weeks too.

And if you haven't watched Homeland yet - go and do that. Now.

If any one liked The Wire, try and get or d/l 'The Corner' written by the same people as the wire in 2000, another HBO show. Based on a true story, makes it even more brutal. Great mini series.

Also trying to get into Treme, another David Simon written show based on after the New Orleans hurricane

I think it's well worth it - i'd never got round to watching yet had somehow been spoilt for all the major plot points and thus never felt like it would be worth sitting through. Eventually bit the bullet when I had a week off and a few days with bugger all to do. I compulsively blitzed through the not, whilst the big moments didn't have the same holy shit value it was still so good to watch - knowing what was going to happen almost helped in some points because they're really good with foreshadowing and the like. Looking forward to seeing the last season spoiler free though!

And second the parks and rec love, first season and a half aren't too great but somewhere they started getting really really good and then never let up on the quality. Although it's not as good as Community ;)

YES! Right up there with my favourite comedy shows. The Office (US) is really underrated too.

^^ Absolutely hysterical show. Definitely an 'acquired taste' but it's very lulzworthy.

I recently started watching 'Sons of Anarchy'. Great premise, great cast, and the acting is decent but it's just not that good for reasons I can't put my finger on...

Started watching this recently, it's absolutely brilliant. The twists and turns, the multi-faceted characters, the brilliant performances from Danes and Lewis as well as the supporting cast. Haven't been this excited about a series in a while. Like rollie said, go watch this now if you haven't already.

Picked it up two years ago, didn't look back

On that note, I just picked up The Sopranos and The Wire. Was too young for it back in it's heyday. Is Game Of Thrones worth a watch for someone that isn't too keen on fantasy/knights/medieval/dragons/magic?

Game of Thrones is quite unique, it is technically a fantasy, but the majority of the plot (even in the books) is based on the characters and their aspirations. It hardly touches any fantasy, although there are glimpses of it.

The character development is extremely good and they stick very close to the novels, which makes me excited for when season 2 starts in a few days!

If you like the Wire and Sopranos I think you will like Game of Thrones.

So in the sense that it's set against a fantasy world, but isn't about wizards? You've sold me, though it'll need to take the backseat to my Mad Men catch up

yes, the setting is fantasy but the amount of wizardry/magic is very low and it kind of justs looms over the show but it is never overtly visible.

The strong points of the series are the characters and the story is just really solid. i've finished all the books and if they somehow manage to adapt every book into a tv season, we are in for a real treat.

Spartacus is really entering top tier television territory (aliterativetastic!). It started out absolute balls but slowly but surely improved until the last few episodes of the first season which were incredibly fun. The newest season has continued to get better and better, maintaining it's ridiculous over the top nature with well developed characters and plotting. The battle at the end of the last episode was blinding, it just kept going and building with multiple moments I assumed would be the end of the episode yet it kept topping them - which also ratcheted up the tension as I was left wondering what 'big thing' they'd finally choose to close the episode on.
I'd easily put it on the same level as Game of Thrones, Justified and Sons of Anarchy (if not better than GoT and SoA depending on my mood)

Highly recommended even if you have to get through 4-5 really not good episodes
