Matt Tolfrey/Leftroom records is good for that sort of stuff - he's playing at Wherehouse? in Nottingham next Saturday for his label's 5th birthday.

Bit more like lounge than deep house really, but still an amazing track. "Electronic Music From The Swedish Leftcoast" is my favourite chilling out album. "I really hate site MySpace - I am lorem ipsum dolor naf naf naf fan naf nif" http://www.attackyourselfmusic.com/ http://welovegrouphug.tumblr.com/ |

'Deep house' often means current classicalist house with lots of classic rhodesy sounds and pads and roland drum samples.
Kris Wadsworth is ace.Tracks like Ripped open, det sound, mainline etc. ALso someone mentioned Dj Sneak. ' Music in me' is hectic and has ages really well. I appreciate this is nothing like 'deep house' but 'Lone' is full of classicalism and this track is bigbigbig: |

Ok, first thing to say about deep house. Stay the fuck away from Beatport's top tracks, you'll learn nothing there.
As a good reference for what the sound's all about: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=5T4RD5SY (Lee Jones RA Podcast 121). My experience with deep house played out at the clubs (it's very prevalent in Oslo actually) is that it's really awesome when it's done properly, and horribly, horribly boring when not done properly. So if you're not comfortable with the genre, stick to what you know. Also notice that slowing down some good ol' funky house tunes 10 bpms or so will effectively turn the track into a deep house track (remember to pitch shift as well of course). Here's a list of some of my favorite deep house tunes (edit: retard forum only allows one vid): |

For recent stuff Id recommend Greg Paulus - U R (Deniz Kurtel remix), especially if your playing after 2-3 am. Most of this stuff is vinyl exclusive tho, but then most good deep house seems to be, at least at first. |
