That Pendulum track's drums are actually pretty generic too... Lots of the harder stuff like Noisia or Black Sun Empire use less amen-ish drum patterns, but raw hard hitting beats.

Also a freebie Commix remix that might be what you're looking for to some extent: http://soundcloud.com/metalheadz/alex-reece-basic-principles-commix-remix-metalheadz

you mean without the amen break or what? the autonomic crew tend to rely less on the amen break, utilizing a bit more space in their music, sometimes by halving the speed, but thats kind of the opposite of that pendulum tune, which is way too hectic and cluttered for my tastes. But have a look through the autonomic discography, the works of instra mental, d bridge, asc and the like. still love this lynx and kemo ep to death too.

but my knowledge of dnb is dated to '06-'09 when a lot of it rubbed off on me from uni friends i lived with, so cant help you with any current artists.

Yea most of the nuero-funk (noisia, black sun) and some of the "minimalistic" dnb (Icicle) can be different in terms of drums.

wow thanks for all the suggestions, maybe should've said I'm a huge noisia fan so I already have most of these songs lol but that Fanu guy is class I'm defo gonna check him out.

love Venetian Snares but I wouldn't call most of his stuff DnB, and that Lynx and Kemo track is weird, might grow on me though!

yeah I get how it sounds generic and it's obviously based on the amen break but i was listening to some drum and bass mixes and was just thinking "how the hell do some people enjoy ONE drum pattern over and over" and even this track was a welcome change when i put something else on!

Such a tune, haven't heard this in ages!

I'll keep on recommending the Commix Fabriclive mix to anyone that will listen, but it really is excellent.
