That's a pretty hardcore way of looking at things. Granted some people have kids for financial or emotional gains, but at the end of the day it's what we're programmed to do and there's plenty of people that do it for the right reasons.

It's totally an age thing too - when you hit a certain age having kids won't seem so stupid any more.

Kids can just happen to you. And abortion is an entirely different topic and a big moral issue.
And if they happen to you, there is absolutly nothing selfish about deciding for them. You make quite a big sacrifice for deciding for their life and not against it.

Oooh, I don't know about that. Look at how divisive an issue it is in America.

Ha, your kids are going to beat Ego Troopers, nice.

Haha, my aim is for him to have mastered synthesis by the age of 5 but more than likely he will rebel and end up being into country music ;)

Well, I would have said yes, according to most criteria set out for classifying developed countries, I think America would be defined as a developed country. Admittedly I'm no economist though, so what would your definition of a developed country be?

Slightly trolling there, but I do seriously think they're about 100 years behind the rest of the western world on social issues. It's a country where you can go bankrupt because you broke your leg.

one day Id like to have kids, so I can play video games with them and pokemon cards and have an excuse to rewatch all of the cartoons I watched as a kid and make them suffer through the 30 episodes it took for Goku to resurrect and cross that dragon bridge, to help them help goku gain enough energy for a spritibomb, and to troll them and teach them the art of a troll and to be an awesome dad.

but first....

Ok First off like everything in life if you havent experienced it you cant really judge or make a valued comment. So talking about Kids and the affects and benifits etc without ever having any is worthless. I have 3 children and to be honest hasent changed my attitude or way of thinking about life that much, what is does is make you more responsible and also like some mention here less selfish. As for money the amount you spend on cat/dog food is not far from that of a kid. I still go out alot and have friends, only difference is that when i am at a club and some drunk student come up to the massive toilet que and says is this the line for the toilet, i say thanks for having kids.
