I prefer the darker stuff like Sortsind, Xasthur, and this fine one man band from Spain. I'll listen to the really misanthropic depressing stuff like ... (the band's name is actually ...), Dead, Depressive Years, Life is Pain, etc. but it's hard to listen to for an extended amount of time. It just ruins any positive feelings you might have at the time. The dark stuff just feels really eerie and atmospheric. It doesn't make me want to shoot myself. But then again it is ALL DSBM. Some might not even make a distinction, but I do. Oh, and I've also really been into the Black Metal/Shoegaze combo. Really interesting stuff. Amesoeurs, Mélancolie, Hypomanie, pretty much everything from The World Comes to an End in the End of a Journey compilation, etc. |
