Mental in to this guy of late. He's blatantly going to get crazy popular as soon as a big website links to him.

So, what metal does EAF like?

Any style!

I'm partial to Black Metal.

1349, Sortsind, Gorgoroth, Anaal Nathrakh (would probably just call them some form of extreme metal), Nargaroth, Les Legions Noire, etc.

Yeeeaaaaaah boi, listening to so much Tool recently. When on earth are they going to tour the UK again?

Also been on a bit of a new-OSDM tip atm:

It's getting too light and not-fucking-freezing at the moment to keep on listening to black metal, seems to be exclusively reserved for the most wintery winter months for me (although I'll always make an exception for Bathory)

That Parabola is boss, not heard it in a while.

Don't mind black metal as long as the vocals aren't too silly.

= Just about acceptable vocals.

Immortal = slightly too daft.

YES. I remember first hearing this song and not knowing what the hell to think. So... weird. Never really heard anything quite like it unfortunately. The album art is amazing too.

Also look up Katharsis - 666 (Hohenlied der Wiedererweckung). I tried to embed a link TO it, but I guess that counts as embedding the actual video.

Haha, spot on. Their back catalogue is pretty solid though. Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism and Pure Holocaust are beasts of albums.

Reminds me a bit of Lurker of Chalice or Xasthur. Or Leviathan.
Might be a bit off though, I've never really been into this side of BM as much as the folkier stuff.

Saw Mastodon again for the first time in ages last week, and they played this hunk of deliciousness:

Sexual.

Yup! They're supposedly one of the first DSBM bands. I actually listen to DSBM quite a bit as well. I prefer the darker stuff like Sortsind, Xasthur, and this fine one man band from Spain.

I'll listen to the really misanthropic depressing stuff like ... (the band's name is actually ...), Dead, Depressive Years, Life is Pain, etc. but it's hard to listen to for an extended amount of time. It just ruins any positive feelings you might have at the time. The dark stuff just feels really eerie and atmospheric. It doesn't make me want to shoot myself. But then again it is ALL DSBM. Some might not even make a distinction, but I do.

Oh, and I've also really been into the Black Metal/Shoegaze combo. Really interesting stuff. Amesoeurs, Mélancolie, Hypomanie, pretty much everything from The World Comes to an End in the End of a Journey compilation, etc.
