Oh come on, Acid is a type of sound, it's not like you can only use one exact specific model of synthesizer and NOTHING else will do. ^that is what I was thinking. If the song doesn't have the "proper" acid synth why would it be on the super acid compilation? Granted everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Who really cares if it's not the real 303?

Saying a x0x isn't acid puts you on par with the people that insist you can't listen to Paganini unless the violinist is using a period Stradivarius.
Now this is how it started, my dreams all broken hearted yet i want you, baby. |

The x0xbox is built from the exact same components as a TB303, so I'm not sure whether or not the outer plastic has 'Roland' written on it or not defines how Acid it is.
In any case, acid house isn't just about the 303, unless Trax Records were clueless all along: (The term "Acid" reportedly comes from a Chicago slang word for stealing.....in this instance, the nicking of samples), although it became synonymous with the sound pioneered by DJ Pierre & Phuture's 'Acid Trax'. Of course, DJ Pierre owes everything to Afrojack.... :/ |

The track you posted is the remix of 'This Is Acid' which came later, as well as pinching Todd Terry's oft-sampled 'A Day In The Life' synth. This original version did indeed utilise the silver box.
