Allows it to retain that little bit of exclusivity still.

Not if vinyl rips of it will be flooding the web soon as it gets released like it happened with Froth/Mercy.

I <3 Head High

I batter that tune any chance I get.

My fave Shed alias prob, the most fun in any case. So I'm looking forward to hearing this.

It kinda goes without saying I dig the original, oh and I bet the artwork will be wicked I love his designs.

Yeah, fair point. At least I can control the quality of my own vinyl rips though rather than rely on some of the dreadful downloads I've hear.

Who's complaining? I just think it's a bit odd that someone would release exclusively on a format they don't even use.

As pretentious and bad as it sounds, I think keeping it vinyl only is a certain spirit that suits those kind of tunes/labels well. Tunes are more special that way.

And when he plays at his Manchester residency it's all vinyl I think.

Quentin is right. Releasing on vinyl makes the releases more special and it's just a standard thing in the underground uk scene at the moment. These smaller labels also take in much more money than if they release digitally, which helps the label grow. Seeing as it's his own label, I'm sure that's something he wants to happen.

In the end, it aint worth shedding a tear over not having the digi. Play the rip like the rest of us.

I'd have thought a label that releases digitally (provided the release had a decent amount of promo and hype behind it, of course) would take in more money as it's the dominant format these days?

Mind, I'm not exactly an expert on the matter, so chances are I'm probably talking absolute shit and you should all ignore me.
Anyway, back on topic, is the Head High remix available for listening anywhere?

I think this would sell out on vinyl even if it were out digitally. But yeah, unless you're doing Berghain anyyime soon, just buy the vinyl and play a decent rip.

Joe you're on quite thin ground here, being only 17 and probably not owning a considerable amount of vinyl yourself and/or never have owned a pair of turntables...

See my point?

Plus you're now basing your argument on how much money a label can make. With a limited vinyl run, there is a firm ceiling on any money you can make back. With digital, profits are endless.

I'm pretty sure Joy-O would like to see a return, as would anyone, but he's not exactly whoring the tune out with promo from VEVO or 3Beat or Spinnin Rec' is he?

Many people just don't play out on vinyl anymore because its convenient not to, in sooooo many ways. You don't have to have owned the back catalogue of R&S and be playing out on it week in week out, to have an appreciation of vinyl and where it comes from.

Despite physical CD sales going down 9%... Vinyl sales were up something like 40% last year. Now who is against that trend continuing this year, and into 2013 and beyond?

If you're against that, you might as well just give up buying music all together, because your opinion is not shared by anyone else here.

p.s. apologies if I went in a bit much there. Had a lot to say, and it probably came across quite knobbish.
