Hi folks.

I am part of the organization team of the Interwhisky in Frankfurt and i wanna know if some guys of you are Whisky and Single Malt drinkers. We are making the big booth for Diageo and another secret area at the place which i want to fill with really exotic whiskeys most people there havent tasted yet.

Any suggestions?

Ooh, my old flatmate works for Diageo. Sadly, as a result the only whiskies I know are ones that he introduced me to.

Your best bet is to find a proper specialist whisky shop and speak with them.

Not a huge whisky drinker (only recently started drinking it at all), but I really like Bowmore.

Not particularly exotic I don't think, though.

Im no expert really but tasted a few i like. Really like Compass Box Spice Tree whiskey. Lovely flavour.

Also Rye Whiskeys are pretty cool for a different flavour, particularly when in a Manhattan or something. Not sure of brands though, struggling to find one myself.

Try Edradour, it is produced in the smallest (legal) distillery in Scotland. Hard to get, but a very nice Single malt.

I loves my whisky.

My favourite workaday tipple is the Balvenie. It's a Speyside malt. The standard doublewood finish is excellent, but if you are after something a bit more unusual, see if you can get hold of some of the carribean cask finish.

In terms of Highland malts, I'd probably go with Dalwhinnie.

Islay: I used to be an Ardbeg man, but it's a bit too TCP-ish for me now. I'd probably go with Bunnahabhain (pronounced boonahaaven) these days. Pretty much everything from Islay is great, but it's not to everyone's taste (very peaty and smoky)

I also like Talisker, Jura, Caol Ila, Lagavulin, Bruichladdich, Highland park... To be honest, they are all such small operations, that it is quite hard to find a crap Scottish single malt.

Oh, and the Yamazake (Japanese single malt), really is excellent, but don't be temped by the Penderyn (Welsh single malt), or The English Whisky co. Chapter 6. Both crap.
i don't know much about bourbon, but my sister gave me some of this and it ws very nice

Had Whyte & Mackay before and I think it was nice.

You should definitely go for one of these: http://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/P-915.aspx

Yamazaki is fantastic. Also try the Hibiki 17yo (http://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/P-2923.aspx) which is a blend. Just as good if not better than a lot of single malts.
If you want peat and smoke, you can't go wrong with Laphaoig or Lagavulin or Ardbeg as someone above said.
For a bit more mellow, Glenlivet is my favourite mainland Scotch. Did a guided tasting of the Glenlivets against Yamazaki and Hibiki and never had a bad drop all night.

Caol Ila is what I go for when I can find it.

Ashamedly, if I can't afford expensive ones, I'll go for the 'mainstream' choices :/
